Monday 19/11/84

Got around 8hrs sleep last night!! Fun day. On the way home I spillt pineapple juice all over me, my port my pillow & the seat! End’o’unit science test + a german exam tomorrow.

Glad I learnt for the science test?? YEAH!! It was quite hard. Wish I could’ve learnt a little more for it cos’ I don’t think I’ll get a VHA in that nor in my german exam. [VHA = Very High Achievement. We only had the 5 ‘grades’ back then: VHA, HA (High Achievement) S (Sound = Pass) LA (Low Achievement) and VLA (Very Low) There were no grey area ‘plusses’ or ‘minuses’ like the ABC grading system had] I shoulda studied. But I don’t think I’ve done that bad, considering I didn’t learn much. Hot today not too bad tho’. Watched 3rd part to mini-seres “Bodyline”. Was excellent.

Wednesday 21/11/84

UNCLE PETER’S BIRTHDAY!!! OK. day. Overpowered with fatigue after school also very hungry. Started a new (self-planned) balanced diet today. House is going good! S’posed to be able to move in, in about 2 weeks, time!! [Haha, pfffft!]

Thursday 22/11/84

Very boring day. Beka, Fi & I talked about J. & how she gets on our nerves. (finally I can talk to someone about it!) She got a yellow bandless hat exactly like Fi’s, brought it to school and didn’t even wear (carried it round) She copies off people. Beka told us she even bought a black’n’white striped top/jacket like Fi’s! Went to Carol B.’s to get some plants [for the new house I imagine]. Stayed (what seemed like) hours!! I got bored & sat in the car. Had an early nite.

Friday 23/11/84

Wierd day! From 6:00 till 9:00 there was an eclipse [solar] & then, cos’ of the Yr 10’s exams, we only had 6 periods but some were 10mins longer while other were 5 mins longer. Late-ish nite. Julia’s going to Catherine W.’s Video Party (sleep over.)

Saturday 24/11/84

Feel so lethargic. Jules came home early. Did you know the TV’s on the blink yet AGAIN?? Now it’s the volume. Sometimes it goes off & stays off for ages. It only mucked up on Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Wonder Why!! [Said TV was a ‘Rank Arena’ mum said we had bought not long after colour televisions hit the market (1974-75). It weighed a tonne (!!) despite having only maybe a 10″ screen, had an on/off switch by which you also changed the channels & the volume control was a slider knob. Not many modern televisions could lay claim to such a long working life.] Mucked around this morning Jules & I went with Nin to her new flat at Edge Hill. Is great! Went to mim’s around 3:00, watched ½ of “Flying High II” & “Moving Out”. Ran around Freshwater in the rain, went back had a swim, hot bubble bath & chips. Mum, Geoff & Julia came at 6:30 (with a change of clothes 4 me) and went to babysit Ben & Trent. Late nite. Watched “History of the World, Part I” & the TV movie, then fell asleep. Got home about 12, asleep about 1:00

Sunday 25/11/84

Woke around 8:15 & Had potato & apple pancakes for brekky. [Oh now I don’t remember those but they sound good. I wouldn’t mind trying them out but… I can’t ask mum for the recipe anymore.] Watched cricket & played board games all day with Jules. Went to dad’s around 4:00. Pretty early night.

Monday 12/11/84

Sooo tired but I’m also so restless. Fi admitted she loves Jason P. Personally, I think they’d suit each other. Dad hosted the “Stefan Finalists Northern Zone Hairstyle Awards” so Leanne’s giving him, Julia & I free haircuts (we’re getting it done tomorrow for the presentation night.) She said we could look at books, choose what we’d like & she’d tell us whether it would suit us, how to keep it looking good etc. I’m sooo nervous. How’ll I get mine cut?? late nite.

Tuesday 13/11/84

PRESENTATION NIGHT. It was HOT. but fast. Had our rehearsal of walking up & receiving etc in periods 6 & 7. My haircut wasn’t too bad but Jules’ was great! (Leanne wasn’t there – called out of town on (bad) personal business.) Deep “V” cut short bob. → [see hand-drawn diagram… it’s the ‘rear view’ of Julia’s head, in case you’re baffled.] Concave cut. Mine’s neat too!

Wednesday 14/11/84

Boring, tiring day. Felt a bit sick. Had no dinner. Got whole english assignment completed. Went to speech – found it wasn’t on – finished for the year! I didn’t know!! My hair is spikey in the corner (of the fringe) & fat Julieanne walked past me & said to her friend “Look at her hair!” giggle-whisper-giggle, giggle. BITCH. but Anna loves it.

Thursday 15/11/84

Today was plain & boring. Nothing special to record except that it was BOILING hot & in art, took photos with our pinhole cardboard cameras. Is treadly. [These were pretty impressive! I still can’t believe we actually took photos with ‘cardboard boxes’. Also did the whole ‘dark room’ developing as well. Unfortunately I have forgotten the science behind it all now.]

Friday 16/11/84

Rushed day. Got exam timetable {mon, 3rd Dec = (1) Maths (2) Science (3) History // Tues 4th Dec = (1) nil (2) BP (3) nil//} Monday’s gonna be tough one. At home, vacuumed, showered & packed. Dad came & we went to Red Beret. After to Vic & Liz’s for tea. Fell asleep around 10:00. Got home around 2:00 though!

Saturday 17/11/84

Dozed til 8:00. Dressed & went shopping. Ate big vanilla slice – bee-u-ti-ful!! At work played on dad’s new ‘paper’ calculating machine. At flat, dad did housework, we did HW. When we got to Jenny’s (it’s a beautiful house) the kids weren’t there – Jules & I did some polishing. Anthony came first, then Jacki. (She’s a tart – reminds me of Kim M. but she is very nice.) Anthony is good-looking (but so different to what we expected) & small. Played video games, rode the trail bike & mucked around all nite. Got little sleep.

Sunday 18/11/84

Mucked around – played chess, video games etc. An hour after BBQ lunch, went to Mossman Gorge. Took Anthony, Sean K. & his friend Shane. Jenny, Jules & I didn’t swim but had fun. Lost the key on the track but luckily, Julia found it! [My sister was always the ‘eagle eye’ of our family.] After, went to pub, then had a shower before Keanes came & knocked over the water meter!! (Anthony was in the shower!!) Late, very late night.

Monday 5/11/84

Extremely hot, tiring, boring day. AM SOOOO TIRED. All talking about J’s party. Was TOPS!! Lucy’s having one now, but the boy’s’ll sleep over. Did no HW. Rained this arvy. Presentation Night – the 13th. Did I tell you, I got a merit award?? Whoop-ee-do! who cares?? [There’s that perfectionism rearing its ugly head again: knocking an achievement for which I didn’t even work hard to earn.]

Tuesday 6/11/84

Another boring day. Was upset all day about Mark cos’ Fiona told Jemima & all mim said was “isn’t that nice!” She didn’t bother to say anything about me like “tell Liss not to worry”, etc. Anyway, Fiona said she thinks something will happen for me at Lucy’s party so I’d better hope. Early night.

Wednesday 7/11/84

Another BORING DAY in the MEAN WORLD. A stupid day of school & school work. Came home, had bath, went to speech. Mima & Elisia set up something about a phone call that Mark made to mima (just to stir me up) I Bet. Jemima doesn’t like me. Had a terrific storm afterwards – rain, sqwalling winds, thunder & lightning (the Lot). After trudged with mum to check on the house. Looks OK. Early-ish night.

Thursday 8/11/84

No storm – hot & still day. Fiona told me that what happened yesterday was a joke but they weren’t going to do it because they knew it would hurt me. Elisia did it tho! Orthodontist said I’ll need these on for another 6 months at the most. After, went with mim, Fi & Jay to Freshy tennis courts. Mim met Glenn (he rode out to see her) she was with him most of the arvy. I didn’t mind. Polly, Fi & I still had fun.

Friday 9/11/84

Kept forgetting it was friday. Such a slow week that I didn’t know it was coming to an end. Staying at mim’s cause Geoff & Mum are going out to dinner & Nana’s not home.

Saturday 10/11/84

Ever since my braces were tightened on Thursday , they’ve been giving me hell. Woke early but got up about 9:30. Mim & Pol had to go to music (lessons) so Mrs Brewer dropped us home. Tried on all mum’s clothes till went back to mim’s at 12:30, called Fi & spent all arvy on the trail bike. Glen came but wouldn’t get on the bike. At home 5:00 played french cricket with Petra & Julia. Read “home” magazines & went for a walk after tea.

Sunday 11/11/84

Petra left early. Had pancakes for brekky, lazed around. At 12:30 Dad & Jenny came – went to little Di’s for lunch. Kim N. & Paul P. were in the park. Late night. REMEMBRANCE DAY.

Tuesday 30/10/84

Another slow, BOILING Day. Didn’t learn 4 science test but think I did quite well. Thunderstorm has passed – is cooler now. (we didn’t get it, tho) Just. still doesn’t know if Mark’s going or not. She’s got no reply. Hope he can come. Hope he does like me (the way I think he does)

Wednesday 31/10/84

Boring, slow day. Did bad in science but BP was consellation – 15/15 for old practical test! the 1st full mark I have ever received while at high school!! [It was said that our class/year at Freshwater primary school was well above average academically, so my standards were set quite high. Prime for my inherent perfectionism.] Did little HW. Still dunno wot to wear! Wrote a list of what to take. If only I had a double breasted jacket…

Thursday 1/11/84

Sooo excited!! 2 days left! Fast day. Can’t understand maths work. Is hard. At home bathed, dressed & went to Earlville. New layout is beautiful! “Ambition” Clothing Co. is tops – so cheap! Love everything! Got a $5 double breasted jacket!! & a white straight skirt (from splendif.) Jacket needs shortening cos if done up – looks like a lab jacket! Broke my diet UMAH!

Friday 2/11/84

Sooo tired. Got about 5hrs sleep last night. Very Excited. Have a list of all the things I must do take & wear. I CAN’T W A I T ! !

Saturday 3/11/84

Planned out the day but started running late about 1:00. Jumpy, all day. Took Fi. Was FAB!! Mark knows I love him, but Fi got hints that he loves Jemima. Kept calling her “Jamaica-farewell” some kinda code I s’pose. Always asked about her. Otherwise, I think he likes me. Got a bad leg cramp in the pool – had to sit out ½hr alone. Boys didn’t want to leave but finally did. Other Smithy boys – Shane, Gordon were jealous that they got all the attention.

Sunday 4/11/84

Dad picked me up from Justine’s. Met Jenny (dad’s new girlfriend) very nice, but not very pretty or young. [After all, my dad and mum were the Best Looking People in the World, so they deserved supermodel partners, right? Rose-coloured glasses are acceptable at age 14 aren’t they? Jenny proves to be The One for my dad…] Lazed around – did HW. Penwardens came round. Walked to the shop for an ice block, via the beach. Drove to San Remo. Had a large dinner (2 croissants as well) Jenny left around 9:30. Late nite.

Tuesday 23/10/84

We’re all sooo tired: Hafta get used to summer again. Told Luc my idea of bringing alcohol to Justine’s party. She wants something exciting to happen too. Boring, plain ‘nothing’ kinda day. Fi went to sick room at little lunch & was sick all day. Hope she feels better in the morning.

Wednesday 24/10/84

Very boring day. still didn’t know what to wear until I had my bath. After speech, Fi, Lucy & I walked to the Freshy shops. Had fun at the German Dinner. Ate yummy tea & dessert UMAH! Walked up & down the street. On the bus on the way home the kids lit up a smoke & SHANE, WADE, IAN & EVERYONE ← (almost) smoked it. I couldn’t believe it. & still can’t. Anyway am tired so nite nite!

Thursday 25/10/84

Woke with a sore neck. Went to bus stop (in a shit). Decided to go back & kiss mum. Went back to bus stop, grabbed port & went to chiropractor. Made an appointment for this arvy. At school – BORING. Mum was late to pick me up from school so I got on the bus with Fi told bus driver & saw mum. Flashed headlights & I waved crazily. Dropped me off at Smithfield shops. Soon mum came. Lucky Julia saw me or she would have driven right past me & left me there. Got a little relief from chiropractor. Hafta go back tomorrow morning. At K-Mart, bought Justine’s prezzy – fluoro beads & Bangle (yellow.) Had a big row – no dinner. Am not hungry now.

Friday 26/10/84

At chiropractors, a few twists & cracks made me feel 99% relieved. Feel HEAPS better. Got back to school at 9:40. Am going to fete with mim & Fi. We’re taking them & Mrs D.’ll take us home. Matthew C. loves Fi. It started last Tues when him & Clayton peashot us. Then on ‘Matt’ has written MC 4 FD on blackboards, desks & winked & blown kisses at her. Poor girl. Tonite Clayton rang to ask Fi if she’d go with Chappo. [To ‘go with’ someone was the 80’s teen terminology for ‘date’ or ‘go out with’] Don’t blame her for saying NO!!! Melinda’s staying tonight.

Saturday 27/10/84

Good day. Woke 7:15 lazed around. Began vacuuming but mum finished it. After a small lunch, had a bath, dressed & went to Smithfield Fete. Boring this year but Justine, Angela & us made laughter & shared food & drink. Before mim had been at her school carwash. Met 2 boys who’d suit Fi & me. Stuart (for Fi) from Trinity Bay (rest unknown) & Peter (for me) from CHS, Gr 11, blonde spiky hair & funny laugh. Great to meet him, huh?! [Of course that didn’t happen, so to this day I have no idea who Peter is/was] Will 10hrs sleep 2night hopefully.

Sunday 28/10/84

Did sleep 10hrs! Great! Woke, had brekky, did ex’s, had shower & packed for dad’s. Went to Mulleys today instead. Roger is shifting. Moo & Nellie didn’t want to come, so Julia stayed there. Went to Roger’s & sunbaked (had no suncream – got a little burnt) Picked up Jules after went back to Roger’s (old) place. Stayed for tea. Broke diet (UMAH) Penwardens & many more came too. VERY LATE NITE!

Monday 15/10/84

Slow day. Did simple BP test. Also started on diet & extra exercises for Justine’s party (for Mark!) [haha, nothin’ like a ‘crash diet’] Got my school photo – will buy it. Didn’t get to talk to Justine about Mark. Am too embarrassed. Late nite.

Tuesday 16/10/84

Another late nite. Left ear is infected again – really bad this time. There’s a GIGANTIC lump, the earring is tarnished and it hurts so much that I can’t even sleep on it. Really bad, huh? Did well on diet today – nana bought me a nice, fresh cream bun – I resisted!! [Probably because cream buns didn’t really do it for me. It’d’ve been more interesting to see how well-resolved I’d’ve been if she’d bought me a vanilla slice or a caramel tart.] Not much HW. House is coming along VERY slowly.

Wednesday 17/10/84

GEOFF’S BIRTHDAY TODAY. Reasonably good day today. Wore no earring to school today. Is BAD. Skipped speech – went to town & got 2 new bras & Kevin gave me a substitute earring (until I bring mine in to be swapped.) Had a small piece’o’cake. Told Justine about my ‘problem’. She doesn’t think I’m frigid …. I dunno. [Frigid was a ‘key term’ at that time – I think thanks to the movie Valley Girl – but what I was concerned about was merely my shyness – the inability to talk to boys, especially ones I liked. It certainly had nothing to do with sex because that was almost an unknown for me then. Only my mum and her boyfriend MIGHT’ve done that…]

Thursday 18/10/84

Very boring day. Went to school, came home, went to town – the Post Office, came home & played French cricket with Julia. Had a ½hr blackout. Diet is going well.

Friday 19/10/84

am: Almost missed the bus. BORINGGGG school day. At home, had a bath & rang Dunphy’s. Martin said Fi was at mima’s. Mima said Fi was at the shop. Mr D. said she’d just left for shopping. Decided not to go cos’ spent the whole arvy worrying about it; Martin had forgotten to buy me a ticket, therefore a seat! Waited for Dad to come but during tea, Fi rang so at the last moment I went to see “Dracula Spectacula” was FANTASTIC!! [Cairns State High School was renowned for their theatrical productions – this was yet another success.]

Saturday 20/10/84

Got home from Dad’s about 8:45. In town, got Amanda’s birthday prezzy. At home (after lunch) mum painted the house while Jules & I watched the movie & played cricket all arvy. Wrapped Manda’s present. Looks great! Now for the card & envelope!! Early nite 9:30

Sunday 21/10/84

Did a little HW & watched TV. Had to do vacuuming so it was 1:30 by the time I could start to get ready. [oh so I DID do some chores? I have held the impression of myself as a lazy – unhelpful – child.] Had a bath earlier in the day so just dressed & packed for dad’s. Party was OK – just like an all-girls party would be. Ate 2 choccy billabongs, 1 choccy biscuit, 1 very small piece of cake, 1 chocolate crackle & a bout a handful of lollies. [Diet’s going well!] At dad’s watched movie “Getting of Wisdom”. Been on before cos’ I recognised lots of it. Good Aussie film!

Monday 8/10/84

The thong I wore today kept rubbing against the cuts. Not many people asked me what happened, surprisingly! Mr Howard let me in the lab, even tho’ I only had 1 leather shoe on. Religion so only 1 period of science. [Wow, I don’t remember any religion lessons at high school? Interesting that it was Science that had to take the back seat…] Chilly wind & overcast but I love it, House is coming along nicely. Louvres in bedroom & front door is on. Pretty good day at school!!!

Tuesday 9/10/84

Nothing much happened today – Pretty “straight”. Wore a non-stick pad over me cut. Is not gonna heal, I know. Got on bus early again (love doing that!) Toni & Natasha are away. Think Natatsha has Toni’s fever. Can’t wait for the Bluelight!

Wednesday 10/10/84

Don’t think I’ll need a thong tomorrow. Last nite did wonders! Left the bandage off and HEY PRESTO! My foot’s almost healed! I can walk on it but from limping the last 3 days, I’m in the habit. Even the cut is now a scab! Lucy bought her dog to speech – after speech went to shop. mum saw a car crash today. An old man (78yrs) died at Aeroglen Drive T-Junction of the Highway near BBC Hardware & Food Barn.. Poor bloke. I feel so sorry…

Thursday 11/10/84

Got a shirt from a different op-shop was $4.50 whereas the one I wanted at the other shop was $1. Got my white shoes too (Like my black flatties) Breakdancing finals was tops!! xcept sometimes couldn’t see a thing cos’ people would stand up in front. Mim found Glenn – they had a good time. He kissed her on the cheek several times but that was all – it was UNREAL!! [I’m fairly sure that I’m referring to the Breakdance Comp here and not the kissing action]

Friday 12/10/84

Alright today. Got on bus early still; I had shoes on & was walking properly! Have a splitting headache cos I’m excited ’bout the Bluelight. Can’t wait!! BAD false alarm today. Got a really bad pain down near my kidneys. Thought it was my you-know-whats. [Uh-huh. Clearly had no ideas where exactly my kidneys were situated in my body…] HEART ATTACK!! Had laughing fits in History. It has been rumoured that Mr Howard was the other driver in the fatal crash which mum saw. He was at school (but officialy still on sick-leave) & was alright. Had a fire alarm. Have gone crazy over Inspector Gadget now!! SLOWEST week I have ever known! Bluelight was alright. Toni, Karen & Lucy went for 1st time but we ignored them. Remember 1st Bluelight you went to?? & Mark gave you the funny, sincere look? Well he did it again!! So I can’t wait for Justine’s!! (Party) Met Julie H. & Ngaree went (very unsuccessfully) spunk-hunting.

Saturday 13/10/84

Went to the [Fun in the Sun street] parade today. met mim & Fi, Before it. Julia’s float went past – I saw her – so did Mark & Jason. (they rode) & came back a little later. (I was thrilled to the bone!) When they had to go, Mark said “scusem wa” & I quickly moved. God I love him. John’s nice too! OH HELL!!

Sunday 14/10/84

Just did HW. Then went to see finish of Fun Run. After leaving the beer tent, went to Dianne & Kerry’s for dinner. Watched “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (My 6½th time!!!!)

Birthdays Galore & a Sprained Ankle (1-7 October)

Monday 1/10/84

Woke early – gave mum $10 & wrote on the card “all we can afford is to give you a wish of good luck”. Mum’s eyes watered when she read it. BORING 1ST DAY BACK. While Ms Woods is overseas on holiday, we have Mrs Clayton, for english. Is alright. Had strawberries & cream after a big tea, then rich (birthday I s’pose) cake. Geoff is staying.

Tuesday 2/10/84

I have decided to turn over a new leaf: I will now be as nice as possible to mum & get stuck into my work and studies. Catherine W. (and Gina) came over. Catherine is Julia’s best friend now. Got an invitation to Natasha’s birthday party (slumber, video party) Beka, Fi & I have decided to go & play tricks all night to scare them all!

Wednesday 3/10/84

Normal school day (God these days are going slow) HEATH’S BIRTHDAY! After school took him a little patty cake with 1 candle on it!! (& a present) Played with him all afternoon. Didn’t go to speech because didn’t know what day I was s’posed to go (but it was meant to be today. Will go with Natasha & Megan tomorrow

Thursday 4/10/84

Natasha’s Birthday. Yesterday – Heath’s 2nd was Lorelle’s & the 1st was mum’s. Funny, eh? Did go with Natasha & Megan. ← she’s quite nice now. Mum went to Carol B.’s & bought home some clothes. I love the 3/4 length, royal blue pants & green & white tennis outfit and the coloured grandpa shirt & the pale blue, full skirt. But tonite went to Breakdance 3rd & final heat. Fi & Catherine W. came. Got there about 7:30 so missed most of it. Kylie S. & some other Freshy Yr7 girls But she did acrobatics stuff & the (gigantic) crowd cheered, screamed, whistled, clapped. Loved her! After, did some quick grocery shopping before coming home & having a late night. On the bus it was not Fi’s day. It was rubber band day & she got hit in the eyes 3 times.

Friday 5/10/84

Another boring school day (No one’s birthday this time (today, I mean) Dad picked us up & we went to the Red Beret (fooled around) I was in a silly mood, then back at Dad’s flat, had an early-ish night.

Saturday 6/10/84

Up early doing shopping etc. Dad has decided to give mum the tiles for the bathroom in our house. At home had lunch, did a little HW then had a shower Both my tyres have punctures so I can’t ride to Natasha’s. I pumped ’em up but as soon as I got round the corner they were flat as pancakes again. The PARTY was great! Will probly get only 5hrs sleep!

Sunday 7/10/84

Bad luck at the party, tho. Toni left early in the morning with a fever, Angela’s glasses were almost smashed about 7 times. Justine (YUCH) mangled her little toe & I SPRAINED MY ANKLE. Starting jogging on wet concrete) Only one home was Nana. She came & took me to the ambulance depot. They bandaged it up & told me to soak it in icy water. At home, did this for about 30 mins, when dad came. At dad’s watched TV all day & (very carefully) played handball with Julia. Dad said I should relax it today & work muscles tomorrow. Good excuse to miss PE, huh?! Excited now cos’ it’s fun being fussed over!! (Mum was at Joss House wen it hap’ned. Nin was asleep when she got back so she didn’t find out till sometime later. She immediately rang me to find out about it.

Monday 24/9/84

Woke about 7:30. Prepared to paint my white T-shirt but worried it wouldn’t turn out & wouldn’t come off . Decided to see “Streets of Fire”. Rode to mim’s (phone’s not working) She wasn’t home so rode to Fi’s. At home, tried to get dressed but got shitty cos’ I don’t have any good clothes. [Outfit-based tantrums were quite a common occurrence…] All shitty with each other. [Mum, Nana & I] Rode to Fi’s to tell her I couldn’t go. Nana was against it [my riding to Fiona’s] so doors were locked when I got back. [Yes, my grandmother locked me out!] Climbed in thru open laundry window – watched TV rest of arvy and forgot about it all.

Tuesday 25/9/84

Went to town with Fi & Mim at 11:30. After a packed day picked up Debbie & went to mim’s. Watched movies all nite. Felt sick (went to loo 5 times: 3 bogs.) Got to sleep around 4:00.

Wednesday 26/9/84

Woke around 7:00 But dozed until 8:00. Got up at 11:30, watched Mike Walsh, packed up & went home. Still feel terrible. The whole night was horrible. I must be getting a wog or something.

Thursday 27/9/84

Felt good today – no more ugly thoughts about the video party. Lazy day – read a good book, played monopoly with Jules. Went to town around 3:30 → 4:00 & got pattern for orange material. Got home & got ready for Trent’s party.

Friday 28/9/84

Early wakening again. Am ded tired!! Wish I could sleep in. OH! Only 2 days of leisure left. I hate school. Played monopoly all morning. After lunch, packed away ornaments off the chest of drawers [WHY I would’ve done this, I don’t know – I don’t think we were moving anywhere – yet] & watched TV. Geoff came started monopoly but no one wanted to play so I forced them to Scrabble!

Saturday 29/9/84

Tired last night – slept like a babe! Saw the start of the Mall to Mall race (some really weird entries!!) [I actually don’t recall what exactly that event was all about] After got a “great Australian Ice Creamery” cone YUM! & went home (I rode to shop to buy bread.) Went to house. Had lunch. Geoff went. Had a rest. Began making my orange shirt Looks Fab!!!!! Went to Blue Light in Thomae’s combie van with no roof (I mean a BIG sunroof – open!) Fi found someone she liked. He asked her ot dance but then pissed off saying “gotta get my friend”. Never came back. TEASER.

Sunday 30/9/84

Boring day. Watched TV, (Hardie 1000 Car Race) & did HW (caught up on books) Early-ish night. My cough is worse. Since mim’s video party I have’t felt 100%. Thurs. I felt better but was ‘dizzy’ & congested (mucus) Now I have a “Laragitus” (Yelling to everyone last night didn’t help.) & a hoarse cough. Am taking cough & decongestant medicines 2ce a day. Hope it helps. I always feel worst in the mornings.

Monday 17/9/84

Boring day at home. Rang Fi last night. She went to Michalmas Cay with Lucy on Sunday (mim wasn’t allowed – hmm!) and she & mim went together to the movies today. I knew they’d be together. Ate only in the arvy but ate alot. Watched TV & played with the microscope kit all day

Tuesday 18/9/84

Read 3 books this morning. After lunch watched TV, till mum went to the blood bank & we looked for curtain material. Had an ice cream from “the Great Australian Ice Creamery”. YUMMY! Wanted (was meant to) go to Fitzroy Island with Lucy today but, when I went to feed the cats, mum said hurry so I ran & fell & grazed my foot & knee & my left arm began aching so I called it off. Really did want to go too. LATE-ISH NITE. Rang mima again (really to see if she was with Fiona) Lucy had also asked them to go to Fitzroy but they weren’t allowed. But she only spent a little time with Fi. SURPRISING HUH?

Wednesday 19/9/84

Mima, Fi & I went to town. Didn’t buy clothes or anything but had Fun! No one slept over. I wondered what’d happen tomorrow.

Thursday 20/9/84

Mim & I went to town. (Fi was getting her haircut.) Got my orange socks!! And orange dress material. Mim & Polly got tube skirt material. No one was home at home. Picked up Fi (her hair is layered & short & looks GREAT!!) Went for a swim at mima’s. I Fed the cats then went home. Got ready and went to Heat 1 of Breakdance Competition. Mima saw Glenn & that was all. Had fish & chips. Early nite. (Also bought orange fluorescent paint for clothes today)

Friday 21/9/84

Played handball with Julia then went to mima’s to work out how to use the clothes paint. Stayed the day. Fi came after lunch & we watched TV all arvy. Did the cats. Fi & mim staying here. The TV movies were OKAAAY.

Saturday 22/9/84

Woke early-ish. Went into town AGAIN (so mima could see Glenn) They had lunch at my place & we mucked around. Mulleys came & Amanda, Genelle, Fi, mim, me, Julia, & Petra talked (uncomfortably) till they left. We played King while Karen M’s uncle & his family moved in next door. (well just their furniture.) All staying At Fi’s. Lucy staying too – she rang Fi to see if she’d stay but (of course) couldn’t so invited her here. Got to sleep about 1:00.

Sunday 23/9/84

Woke 9:00. At Lucy’s watched a video had lunched & played a game all arvy. Forgot to feed cats.. Watched the movie. Am sooo tired. Hope I can sleep in.
